Alistair sets the house view, which he publishes quarterly and revises reluctantly. He arrived in 2016 from a university endowment, bringing its horizon and leaving its committees behind. His central conviction is that most investment activity is motion mistaken for progress; the house declines roughly nine ideas for every one it funds, and he keeps the declined list to check his work.
