Alistair Finch
Capital preservation first; the compounding follows.
Alistair sets the house view, which he publishes quarterly and revises reluctantly. He arrived in 2016 from a university endowment, bringing its horizon and leaving its committees behind. His central conviction is that most investment activity is motion mistaken for progress; the house declines roughly nine ideas for every one it funds, and he keeps the declined list to check his work. He has been early twice and wrong once, and will tell you which was which. He does not forecast. He prepares.
