These terms govern the use of this site and of the client portal. The account agreement, not these terms, governs the relationship between the house and a client family. Where the two differ, the agreement is right.
The site
This site is published by Gardner, Ripley & Hale, of 41 Main Street, Windsor, Vermont 05089. It exists to say what the house is, how it works, and how to reach the Desk. It is not a branch. Nothing can be opened, moved, or sold on it.
No offer
Nothing on this site is an offer to open an account, extend credit, or manage assets, and nothing on it is advice. The house serves a small number of families, by introduction, with a minimum relationship of $10,000,000. A conversation with the Desk is the beginning of a relationship, not the acceptance of one. The house declines more introductions than it accepts, and does so politely.
The site is published from Vermont. If the law where you are does not permit a bank in another place to describe itself to you, this site is not addressed to you.
Accuracy
The house keeps the site accurate and corrects it when it is not. The figures on it are drawn from the statement date named beside them and are revised annually, not continuously. The premier reserve rate shown is the rate at its most recent reset. The rate that applies to an account is the one confirmed in writing at opening and on each statement. If the site and a statement disagree, the statement is right. If a statement and the ledger disagree, the ledger is right, and the Desk would like to hear about it the same day.
Use of the site
You may read the site, print it, and quote from it with attribution. You may not copy it wholesale, republish it under another name, scrape it, or use it to train a model. You may not present yourself as the house, use its name or wordmark, or reproduce the rosette on the statement seal. You may not attempt to reach parts of the portal you have not been invited to, or test whether you can. The house's counsel is patient, but not idle.
The client portal
Access to the portal is by invitation, issued by a banker to a named person. A credential is personal. A family that wishes to give a family office, a trustee, or counsel a view of its ledger asks its banker, who issues a separate credential with the permissions written down. Lending a credential is a breach of these terms and of the account agreement.
An instruction given through the portal is an instruction to the house and is executed as given. Every instruction is confirmed in writing before it is final, and may be withdrawn at any time before that confirmation. Where an instruction given on the portal and one given by telephone differ, the later one confirmed in writing governs.
The house will never ask for a password by telephone or by email. The Desk can reset one, on the telephone, after asking questions that only the account holder can answer.
Verification
The verify page tells you whether what you have typed is shaped like a statement fingerprint. The Desk, by telephone, confirms whether it matches a statement issued by the house and whether that statement has since been superseded. Neither reports anything about the value of an account, the family, or the standing of the relationship. A match means the document is the house's and unaltered. It does not mean the figures on it are current.
Ownership
The name GRH Bank, the wordmark, the rosette, the letters published under Perspectives, and the photographs and painted portraits on the site belong to the house or are licensed to it. The portraits are of the house's principals and are not for reuse. Quoting a letter, with its title and the house's name, is welcome.
Liability
The site is provided as it is. The house does not warrant that the site will be available at every hour, though the Desk is. The house is not liable for loss that arises from relying on the site rather than on a statement, an agreement, or a conversation with a banker. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Vermont, without regard to its rules on the conflict of laws. Any dispute about them is heard in the state or federal courts sitting in Windsor County, Vermont, and the house and the reader each submit to those courts for that purpose. Nothing in this section alters the forum named in an account agreement.
Changes
These terms are reviewed each September. This version was reviewed in September 2026. A change is posted here, dated, before it takes effect. Using the site after that date is acceptance of the revised terms. Client families are also told in writing.
